Academy Expels Registered Sex Offender Adam _____ After Variety Investigation

[variety.com – 3/17/21]

After a story in Variety in November exposed the fact that registered sex offender — and noted cinematographer — Adam ____ has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2007, the organization has taken action and removed him.

An Academy source confirmed to Variety that Adam ____ is no longer a member. When asked for a comment, a representative for the Academy did not immediately respond.

Adam ____ also appears no longer to be in the American Society of Cinematographers, an elite organization for directors of photography either. A spokesperson for the ASC did not return Variety‘s inquiries about Adam ____’s status. But his name, which used to be listed among the organization’s members, is no longer on the ASC website. And on a list of ASC members, Adam ____’s name has an asterisk next to it, which means “withdrawn from membership.” On his IMDb page under trivia, it says, “Was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) from 2008 until his resignation in 2021.”

Adam ____  was arrested in New York City in November 2003 — after having a sexual relationship with an underage girl that summer — and pleaded guilty to rape in the third degree in February 2004. Two months later, he was sentenced to 10 days of community service, 10 years of probation and 10 years on the sex offender registry (it was changed to 20 years retroactively in 2006 because of a statewide change to the law).

This permanent ostracizing and punishment of those convicted of sexual offenses must end!! 😡

Not punishment or banishment eh. Judge people on who they are today not what they did decades ago. Guess what people can and do change asshats!!

I don’t have a problem with this.

He was convicted of two separate crimes against children. As far as the article says, he didn’t try to make amends or even tried to improve his conduct.

I still have problems with the failure to register not as punishment because in the article it’s treated as no different. We all know it’s punishment without being labeled as such.

It would be different if it had been decade and he did nothing wrong since. I get this is his livelihood and we’ve seen this happen before as Hollywood likes to know have their cake and eat it to with certain laws on how one can use the registry.

But the man has been consistent in hurting kids. I would be more understanding if it was one event in the past decade or so.

This guy and many other rich people in Hollywood think their above law and can get away with anything so I’m happy to hear this weirdo got kicked out the movie business.
Luckily for him he’s already rich az hell so being labeled a sex offender doesn’t really effect his life at all.
Megan’s law was designed to run poor people out of their Neighborhoods into homeless encampments or get people fired from their really good jobs and keeping them from forming healthy relationships with people they meet in Society.
When your rich Megan’s law BS really dosen’t effect your life that much I dont know why but cops act differently when you say iv already connected my lawyer he’ll be here shortly

Good luck

Most of these stories first have be feeling angry about someone not being able to move on with their life, but then I’m usually hit with the person being a repeat offender and/or general repeat issues with the law.

I’m waiting until reporters start writing stories about people who get screwed decades after the fact when they’ve otherwise lived a good life.

We need a vote on the really cool and beautiful registrants that deserve love and support and and the evil and ugly ones that should go to hell. Let’s settle this one and for all because the public needs to know which is which.

Other felons have been removed? Or only someone on the “hit list?” ????

@Aero and @ Resident you guys don’t have a problem with it until you get stripped of something . Give me a break both off you. Sounds like your just happy because the guy had cash. What if he has kids and he’s paying for their education? Don’t care about them eh? Pretty shitty position you have imo.

AK is far from rich. He lives in Seattle and is struggling. These charges have destroyed his life. He made mistakes and this country isn’t allowing him to grow past those mistakes.

@steve Way to go steve I commend you.To much pain and suffering in this day and age and much of this registry is a bit morbid. Even with these extras of drudgery monitoring and things of that scope.

So much for “inclusion.”

I sure see a lot of holier than thou attitudes on this thread. Kinda reminds me of the murderers and scum bag dope fiends in the joint who elevate themselves above sex offenders.

@C. Actually I liked that holier than thou attitude. Sure we all have views on many topics but we are all have ” inclusion” type understandings or inclusive types. Sterotypes today well lets see we have the black lifes matter, The dirty white boys or is that a song, Asian well they have rights also even the Indian nations or Cheorekee nation. One could go with the abortion movement or all lives matter, and of course this sex offender matter, but actually who’s the offender?

Sure I hate wearing a face mask and sure I hate giving my fingerprints or money to this registry as many others do. Yes if one had of had dirty pictures on their computer they would of been sent up the creek without a paddle so to speak. Were is your faith or did John Lennon actually get shot by some scumbag.

Sure many of you all got shot in the dark including myself or are law and government holier than thou? So what prospect are we looking at in this registry from the blind sight or nearsight angle of the truth. Or should we all go with a scripture piece that says think not that I have came to bring peace. Remember a lie is a lie no matter what and that right their goes against commandments. One wonders were is forgiveness today or making amends.

Yes even governments are accountable and Janice, Chance, and the others such Ms. Carpenter and their vocations are their to take a stand for all this. Goal seeking is very commendable.Take a look around you or why is everyone wearing a mask, getting shots that others say they prevent. Yes its good to be aware of things but isn’t thinking of others better even in all this registy ordeal. Hey I even hated to see my dad when I was in jail as a teen coming to see me in jail but that was then and this is now. But caring for others in many ways is always good.
